I photograph families, the ceremonies inside them, and the generations who fly a long way to be in the picture. Studio in San Bruno, working across San Francisco to Palo Alto.

Photography started for me in college, running the student photographic society, printing in black and white and building the first colour darkroom we had. Thousands of frames over one festival week taught me the thing I still work from: a single photograph outlives the day it was made.

What I care about now is narrower and, I think, more useful. I photograph the milestones that actually mark a life — newborn to senior year, the family gathered in one room, the ceremony with real meaning behind it, whatever tradition it comes from. I know that when grandparents are visiting for a few months there is a window that closes, and that the portrait worth having is the one with four generations in it. I photograph Indian and Indian-American ceremonies fluently — annaprashan, mundan, namkaran and more — because that range is part of what I bring to every session, not the limit of it.

Alongside that I photograph founders and teams. I run two other businesses, so I know what a headshot has to do for you, and I know it is not a vanity exercise.
